But for divine providence, a teenage girl would not have survived the evil machination of her toaster-turned enemy who, after forcefully having canal of her, strangled and later threw her into a 10-feet pit, thinking she was dead.

However, the 17-year-old victim (name withheld), who fate smiled to, regained her consciousness and screamed for help that came almost immediately.

Her only ‘sin’ was to have severally turned down the advances made to her by one Godday Robinson, who suddenly accosted her in a desolate area in Agbara, Ogun State and dehumanized her.

Some good Samaritans heeded the victim’s distress call and made a report at the Area Command, following which the Area Commander, Bolanle Muritala, detailed his men to the scene and the young lady was rescued, with the help of members of the public. She was quickly taken to a hospital.

In a press statement made available to our reporter by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, “Having fully regained consciousness, the victim narrated her ordeal saying that on the fateful day, April 22, 2020, while going back home after the day’s job, having done night shift, the suspect who had been making advances to her in the past, accosted her, capitalized on the isolated nature of the area and dragged her into the bush, where he raped her.

“The randy 28-year-old suspect, apart from raping the victim, dispossessed her of a Galaxy Samsung phone, valued at #85,000 and thereafter, strangled her until she passed out momentarily. Thinking that she was dead, he dragged her further into the bush and dumped her into a pit”, Oyeyemi said.

The Area Commander, Crime Puzzle gathered, ordered his detectives to fish out the suspect, a directive that was brought to fruition two days after.

On interrogation, the PPRO continued, “the suspect made a confessional statement and owned up to committing the crime but blamed it on the devil”.

Meanwhile the state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further diligent investigation and prosecution.
