COURT ORDERS ODUA TO REPEAT PUBLIC APOLOGY


The National Industrial Court, Ibadan Judicial Division has ordered Odua Investment Company Limited to publish another public apology for insulting judiciary in the Nations Newspaper and weekly Magazine. This order was handed over to the company at the resumed hearing of case instituted by a top management of the Company , Mr. Abiodun Adedeji against the Board and the company on oppression, misrepresentation of facts to the Board and misgovernance of the company by the Group Managing Director of Odua Investment company Limited, Mr. Adewale Raji.
The court had on October 14 2020 ordered the company to pay damages to the bailiff beaten by the officials of Odua Investment and tendered the apology. However, the company paid the bailiff and apologised in the tribune of saturday October 14, 2020 which was rejected by the court because the apology did not contain the reason for the public apology.

The Judge, Justice J Peters frowned at the behaviour of the officials of the company and serious pressure mounted on him to waive the apology. He was irked that the that the company officials believed in circumventing justice through lobby. He therefore ordered that the new apology must clearly state the offence and published in the Nation Newspaper and Weekly Journal on or before October 21, 2020.
Odua had earlier informed the court that a sum of N1m had been paid to the bailiffs to compensate for damages.

The next hearing is fixed for November 25, 2020
